Former Team Spirit captain Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov shared insider information regarding the failed transfer of Denis "deko" Zhukov. According to Leonid, the talented sniper could have joined the "Dragons," but the excessive demands of his former organization killed the deal.
An unlucky player: Details of the failed transfer
Chopper admitted that Spirit had a genuine interest in Zhukov, but negotiations ended before they even truly began. As soon as the club made an official inquiry, the organization that owned the player at the time set an astronomical price tag.
"They [the organization] slapped such a price on him that there was no further conversation. That’s why I called deko an unlucky player. As far as I know, several organizations wanted to buy him out, but they kept hiking the price... There was simply no way to buy him out," Vishnyakov recalled.
According to the former Spirit captain, Denis repeatedly received invitations from various top-tier teams, but each time, potential transfers collapsed due to the financial demands of his contract holders.
Deko's career path: From 1win to the Media League
As a reminder, Denis Zhukov played for 1win until November 2023, after which he moved to Aurora. However, he was unable to maintain a spot at the tier-1 level for long: by November 2024, the sniper went inactive.
Currently, one of the region's most skilled individual players is competing in the media-sports environment as part of WW Team. The story of the failed move to Spirit only confirms deko's status as one of the most talented yet "trapped" players of his time due to contractual obligations.
